To serve on a board, submit a letter of interest to the City Clerk. The letter of interest will be provided to the city council. If you don’t mind, also let me know as your city council (except where otherwise noted) will vote to appoint neighbors to serve on these boards. I want to make educated decisions.
ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS: a five member board (plus two alternates who serve in the absence of regular members) who serve three year staggered terms. The board hears appeals from decisions of the city administrative officers relating to the application of zoning regulations, to grant variances, and to authorize uses permitted on appeal. They meet when situations come up for appeals to be heard. They help shape how our city looks.
WATER WORKS & SEWER BOARD: a five member board with staggered six year terms and are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our municipal water and sewer system.
DALEVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION: a nine member commission that is responsible for planning, zonine, and subdivision controls for the city. The makeup is a mixture of those appointed by the mayor and city council.
HOUSING AUTHORITY: a five member board with staggered five year terms appointed by the mayor. The housing authority is responsible for the Daleville municipal housing for our community.
BOARD OF EDUCATION: a five member board with staggered five year terms who are charged with operating our municipal schools.
LIBRARY BOARD: a five member board with staggered four year terms who are charged with operating our public library.
CITY TREE BOARD: a five member board with staggered three year terms who are responsible for trees and shrubs in the parks, alomg the streets, and when requested by the City Council, shall handle any other special matter of question coming within the scope of its work.
DALEVILLE DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY: a three member board with staggered six year terms charged with the revitalization and redevelopment of the central business district of the city.
DALEVILLE POLICE VOLUNTEER RESCUE SQUAD: a five member board whereas one member is a citizen at large charged with overseeing the operation of the rescue squad.
